Do you really need “Peace and Quiet” to read the Bible?
THE SECRET TO CONSISTENCY
Many say that they struggle to read the Bible (I included!) because their environment is too noisy or their situation is too busy. But I believe the real solution is simple: We need Prayer.
Start the Day with Prayer Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Start your day by talking to God. If you have people around you making things noisy, don’t let that stop you, involve them in your prayer. Prayer is a discipline we practice, not just a feeling we wait for.
Prayer for Every Action We often think prayer is only for big things, but we need God for everything.
Do you have a small decision to make? Pray.
Do you have a big life choice? Pray.
Are you about to start your work? Pray.
The Bible tells us to “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Matthew 7:7). When we ask Him, He hears us. We do a lot of actions throughout the day, but we must do them while asking for His help.
He Gives the Peace When you make prayer your first response, God provides the peace you are looking for. The Bible says, “Be still, and know that I am God: ” (Psalm 46:10). This doesn’t mean the world around you will become quiet; it means your heart becomes still because you are depending on Him.
If you want to live a life of Bible Dependency, you must start with the discipline of prayer.
